JACKSON, Miss. — Former Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College football player Levi Wyatt died in a car crash late Friday night near the intersection of Belhaven Street and North State Street, according to Capitol Police.
Wyatt, 22, was driving a Chevrolet Camaro that collided with a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Head Football Coach Jack Wright expressed condolences, noting, “We all miss him and we love him to death. It is just really sad that someone like Levi, who put a lot of energy into college and college football, had his life cut short.”
Wyatt previously played at McNeese State in Louisiana and Jackson State University, where he graduated last December. Reports indicate he had declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.
Authorities said an investigation is ongoing, with lane closures in effect as crews conducted repairs on the damaged utility pole.
