A South Carolina deputy rescued a woman from a burning vehicle following a crash on Interstate 77 on May 23.

Deputy Daniel Threatt of the Chester County Sheriff's Office responded to a accident where a had overturned and caught fire. He was the first on scene and quickly acted to pull the driver from the vehicle.

“He didn't hesitate — he immediately jumped into action, risking his own safety,” the sheriff's office reported.

Additional first responders arrived shortly afterward to extinguish the flames and provide medical assistance. The driver, an out-of-state resident, was traveling to Charlotte to complete her radiation treatments for breast cancer.

Body camera footage revealed the rescue, with Threatt smashing a window to free the woman, later identified as Carletta Bush, after she became trapped in her seatbelt.
