Two New Bern police officers were injured in a collision between their patrol vehicles while responding to a bomb threat downtown, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 12:19 p.m. on April 29 at Craven and Pollock streets.
Authorities reported that a black unmarked Dodge Durango was heading south on Craven Street, while a marked Dodge Durango was traveling east on Pollock Street when the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Both patrol units had their emergency lights and sirens activated at the time, Officials said. The injured officers were transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash took place while officers were responding to the bomb threat in the vicinity, further details were not disclosed.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
