WEST ALLIS, Wis. – A police chase involving a U-Haul van ended in a crash on Thursday morning, Oct. 16, leading to two arrests.
According to police, the pursuit began at approximately 1:45 a.m. near 86th and Lincoln after an officer attempted to pull over the U-Haul for moving violations. The van fled, prompting a chase.
During the pursuit, the van developed a flat tire, lost control, and crashed into a pole before continuing to evade officers. A PIT maneuver was executed to safely bring the vehicle to a stop.
The driver, a 27-year-old West Allis resident, fled the scene but was apprehended after a brief foot chase. He faces charges including 2nd degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Eluding an Officer, and Resisting an Officer, in addition to a pre-existing warrant.
A 37-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, both from West Allis, were in the van. The woman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. All occupants were medically cleared after the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the chase. No injuries were reported.
