LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners denied former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III's parole request on October 4, nearly five years after a crash that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog, Max.
Authorities reported that Ruggs was driving at speeds up to 156 miles per hour before crashing into Tintor's vehicle on November 2, 2021. The collision ultimately killed both Tintor and her dog. Ruggs later pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, receiving a sentence of three to 10 years in prison.
Witnesses stated they heard the car racing and the ensuing crash. “I woke up hearing the racing of the car and then I heard a bang,” said local resident Lois Wright, who lives near the crash site at Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway.
The parole board's decision has reignited community memories related to the tragedy. Wright expressed sympathy for Tintor's family and criticized Ruggs' actions that led to the fatal incident. “The whole thing is sad,” she said.
Ruggs' attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, voiced their disappointment over the denial, emphasizing Ruggs' acceptance of responsibility and participation in educational programs while incarcerated.
According to the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners, Ruggs is scheduled for another parole review in 2024. Channel 13 has reached out for additional comments from Tintor's family and the board regarding the factors influencing the decision but received no response by publication.
