TOWN OF GRATIOT, Wis. (WKOW) — Four individuals were injured in a UTV crash on private property Friday night, just after 9 p.m., according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities reported the incident occurred at 12502 State Highway 11, following a 911 call. Ronald F. Ray, 57, was operating a 2022 Polaris UTV when it overturned. He was transported to Monroe Hospital, while passenger Lisa A. McCaughey, 60, was airlifted to UW Hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries.
Two additional passengers, Darci L. Hartman and Jon M. LeBar, both 61, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Initial findings by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, with assistance from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, suggest that alcohol and careless driving may have contributed to the crash. The case is under review by the Lafayette County District Attorney for potential charges.
