Two Hospitalized Following Morning Collision on Route 196 in Lisbon, Maine
Lisbon, ME — Two people were hospitalized after a crash involving a Volvo SUV and a Ford F-150 on Route 196 Tuesday morning.
Emergency responders received a 911 call at 6:53 a.m. about the collision near Summer Street. Authorities reported that the Volvo, driven by a 53-year-old woman, was attempting to turn left from Summer Street onto Route 196, while the Ford was traveling west on Route 196.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Volvo pulled in front of the Ford, leading to the crash. The driver of the Volvo became trapped and required extraction by the Lisbon Fire Department. She was subsequently transported to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.
The 30-year-old male driver of the Ford also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center. Neither driver's name has been released.
Photos from the scene depict significant damage to both vehicles, with the Volvo deemed a total loss. The Ford was found off the roadway.
Maine State Police responded to assist with crash reconstruction, utilizing drone technology. The Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office managed traffic control, while Lisbon Public Works enforced road detours.
Authorities reported that the crash is under investigation. Lisbon police thanked the community for their patience and acknowledged witnesses who offered help at the scene before emergency personnel arrived.
