POMONA, CA—A significant car accident following a police pursuit resulted in the deaths of two individuals and an unborn child late Wednesday night.
According to the Pomona Police Department, the incident began shortly after 9:30 p.m. near East 10th and South Elm Streets. Officers responded to a domestic violence call when one involved party, identified as 31-year-old Marshall Judson, deliberately rammed a parked patrol vehicle before fleeing.
Police pursued Judson, who traveled approximately two miles before colliding with another vehicle at Garey Avenue and County Road. The struck vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Marc Trejo Saldivar, contained his pregnant partner, 25-year-old Jennifer Loera-Zarco. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and their unborn son was due on April 20.
Emergency response agencies were on site, providing medical assistance. Lane closures were implemented during the investigation, which is ongoing. Authorities indicated that Judson is facing multiple charges, including DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and assault on a peace officer.
Family members described the couple as devoted and looking forward to their child's arrival, with recent celebrations for Jennifer's birthday and a baby shower. Online fundraising efforts are underway to cover burial expenses for all three.
Amber Torres, Jennifer's sister, lamented, “Not only two lives were lost, but three.”
