Two killed in early morning crash in New Haven
NEW HAVEN, CT — Two individuals died in a single-vehicle crash on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard early Sunday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard at approximately 2:50 a.m. after reports of a vehicle striking a tree and igniting. Firefighters extinguished the blaze at the scene.
Upon putting out the fire, authorities discovered a deceased individual in the back seat of the vehicle. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
Shortly after the crash, Yale New Haven Hospital notified police that a 40-year-old man was admitted to the emergency department. He later succumbed to his injuries. His identity remains undisclosed as well.
Investigators believe only one vehicle was involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be made available as they are confirmed.
