Serious Crash and Fire on Route 8 in Shelton
SHELTON, CT — A Fairfield man sustained serious injuries in a crash on Route 8 North that resulted in his vehicle bursting into flames on Saturday at approximately 12:46 p.m.
According to state police, a 36-year-old man was driving a 2021 BMW M5 when he veered off the road, colliding with the guardrail on the right shoulder. The vehicle subsequently caught fire before crossing over to the left and hitting the median's metal guardrail.
The driver suffered traumatic lower leg injuries and was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment.
