Accident on Greenfield Road Near Community College Drive.

PEARL, Miss. — A child was rescued and a man was arrested following a crash on Greenfield Road on Friday night.

According to the Pearl Police Department, officers responded to the incident near Community College Drive at approximately 8:44 p.m. on June 19. A caller reported an with no occupants in contact.

Upon arrival, officers learned that two individuals had fled the scene, one carrying a child. Police initiated a search and located the female shortly after. Another caller then reported a man holding a child beneath a nearby residence.

Officers approached the location, but the man escaped on foot with the child into a wooded area. The Pearl Police Department received assistance from the Brandon Police Department and the Rankin County Sheriff's Department during the search.

Authorities later found both individuals in the woods. The man was taken into custody without further incident. The child was transported to Blair E. Batson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation remains active. Additional details have not yet been released.
