Pedestrian Fatally Struck on I-435 Near Quivira, Tuesday Evening
Overland Park, KS — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 435 near Quivira Road on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, around 8:15 p.m.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the individual, identified as a 41-year-old man, was walking westbound in an eastbound lane when he was hit by a vehicle. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead.
The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man, stopped and cooperated with the investigation. No other injuries were reported. Authorities noted that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Emergency crews closed multiple lanes of I-435 while the incident was being investigated, causing significant delays in the area. Towing services were called to remove the vehicle from the roadway.
