Topeka Woman Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run

A woman was arrested March 10 in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Topeka that killed a male pedestrian the previous evening.
Elizabeth A. Neal, 38, was booked at 8:10 a.m. into the Shawnee County Jail on charges including vehicular homicide and failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death. Police said she is also facing charges related to driving on a suspended license and interference with law enforcement.
Authorities confirmed that formal charges had not yet been filed.
Victim Pronounced Deceased at the Scene
The pedestrian killed has not been publicly identified. The collision occurred at approximately 10:08 p.m. on March 9 at the intersection of SW 6th and Horne, one block west of SW Washburn Avenue.
Topeka police reported that the victim was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, according to Kim Qualls, senior public relations specialist for Topeka's city government.
