WASHINGTON (TNND) — A small plane crash near Crystal Airport in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, claimed the lives of North Dakota Democratic State Rep. Liz Conmy and the pilot on Saturday.

The Beech F33A aircraft went down shortly after takeoff, igniting a fire upon impact, according to authorities. The incident was reported at 11:51 a.m. by local police, and the Brooklyn Park promptly to extinguish the flames.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that two individuals were aboard, though the pilot's identity has not yet been publicly disclosed. The National Transportation Safety Board is set to investigate the crash site this week.
