DETROIT (WKRC) — Motor Co. is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a seat belt defect, as reported on June 7, 2023.

The recall affects 419,967 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles from model years 2018 through 2022.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the defect involves the seat belt pretensioner in the driver or front passenger seat, which may inadvertently lock the belt. This malfunction can prevent proper retraction or extension of the seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Ford. Details regarding repair procedures have not yet been made available.

Authorities emphasized the importance of addressing this safety issue promptly.
