Mililani Crash Claims Life of 76-Year-Old Passenger
MILILANI, HI — A 76-year-old female passenger died following a single-vehicle crash on Meheula Parkway on Tuesday, October 3, at approximately 8:35 a.m.
According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), a 77-year-old man was driving south on Meheula Parkway near Keaolani Street when the vehicle crossed over a raised center median. It then entered the northbound lanes, veered onto the sidewalk, and collided with a tree.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) treated both the driver and passenger on the scene before transporting them to a local hospital in serious condition. The Medical Examiner's Office informed police at 10:20 p.m. that the woman had succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities have not confirmed whether speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the crash. This incident marks Oahu's 17th traffic fatality of 2023, a decrease compared to 31 fatalities at the same time last year.
HPD is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
