HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A 37-year-old man from Georgia died in a three-car collision on the Howard Frankland Bridge around 10 p.m. on January 12, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
FHP officials reported the incident occurred when a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by the Musella resident, headed southbound on I-275 and entered an active construction zone at Milepost 34. The Silverado collided with a Ford F550 operated by a Tampa man.
Debris from the accident struck a Nissan Titan driven by a Largo resident, who was also traveling in the same direction. The driver from Georgia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tampa driver and two construction workers in the Ford F550 sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital. The Largo driver reported no injuries.
The FHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
