BRADENTON, Fla. — An ambulance transporting a patient was struck in a three-vehicle crash late Saturday evening.
According to the Bradenton Police Department (BPD), officers responded to the scene at approximately 10 p.m. on December 20. An investigation revealed that a car attempting to pull over for the ambulance was rear-ended by a second vehicle, causing it to subsequently collide with the ambulance.
No serious injuries were reported. Authorities stated the driver who rear-ended the first vehicle was cited for careless driving.
Traffic was restricted heading toward Anna Maria Island until the roadway reopened around 1:30 a.m. on December 21.
Meanwhile, a local family is making an urgent appeal for blood donors to assist 17-year-old Gigi Felix, who suffers from a rare inherited blood disorder. She requires donors with very specific blood types.
