CLARK COUNTY — An accident on I-65 near Sellersburg resulted in the death of an Indianapolis woman on Monday evening, Indiana State Police reported.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. near mile marker 10.2, involving two vehicles. A gray pickup truck traveling north attempted to merge into the far left lane, colliding with a blue sedan. Both vehicles veered into the median.
According to authorities, the pickup rolled over and came to rest in the fast lane of southbound I-65, while the sedan ended up on the center guardrail. Gloria Jean Jones, 70, a passenger in the truck, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver of the sedan was unharmed and released on site.
ISP confirmed that both northbound and southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for several hours but have since been reopened. The investigation is ongoing, with troopers from ISP Sellersburg responding to the scene.
