DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 63-year-old dump truck driver died after crashing into a home on U.S. 36 Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred just before 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 36 and County Road 450 West, approximately 3 miles west of downtown Danville, according to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office. The driver was from Lizton, a nearby town.
Authorities reported that the dump truck, traveling eastbound on U.S. 36, crossed the centerline and collided with the home located at 4416 W. U.S. 36. No one was present in the residence at the time of the crash, officials said. The condition of the home has not been disclosed.
U.S. 36 was closed for about 90 minutes while emergency personnel conducted an investigation at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
