A collision between a car and a motorhome injured four individuals near Mile 153 Sterling Highway on Friday, Aug. 16, at approximately 2:15 p.m.
According to Alaska State Troopers, Kelly Hicks, 51, of Utah, was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound when he crossed the center line and side-swiped a Coachman motorhome operated by Daniel Hardy, 55, of Michigan. The crash significantly damaged the driver's side of both vehicles.
Hicks was airlifted to Providence Medical Center in Anchorage, where he remains in serious condition. His passenger, Lisa Hicks, 48, also of Utah, was taken to South Peninsula Hospital, along with Hardy and his passenger, Kimela Hardy, both sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred near the Stariski State Park Campground, causing heavy traffic congestion due to ongoing activities related to the Kenai Peninsula State Fair in Ninilchik.
