Homer Man Dies in Single-Car Crash

A single-car crash on June 17 killed a 79-year-old Homer man, identified as Bradley Dickey. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near Mile 147 of the Sterling Highway, close to Stariski Creek.

According to Alaska State Troopers, witnesses reported that Dickey's 1998 GMC Sierra truck veered off the road and into a ditch. As the witness called in a report regarding the erratic driving, the truck crashed. Authorities stated Dickey was partially from the vehicle. Emergency medical responders attempted to revive him but declared him dead on the scene.

Troopers have indicated that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. A routine blood test has been ordered, though results may take six to eight weeks. The Alaska State Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing. It is currently unclear if a medical condition contributed to the accident.

Bradley Dickey was the widower of Paula Dickey, a noted watercolor artist who passed away in 2011. The couple had a son, Devon, who predeceased them. Funeral arrangements for Dickey have not yet been announced.
