QUINCY, MA — A box truck crash on Interstate 93 northbound near the Braintree split caused significant traffic delays Friday morning.
The single-vehicle accident occurred around 3:45 a.m. when the truck veered into the median, blocking two left-hand lanes. Authorities reported that the driver was trapped but was successfully extricated by Quincy Fire and EMS personnel and transported to a local hospital. The driver's condition remains unknown.
The box truck is precariously positioned on top of the HOV barriers, resulting in the closure of the HOV lane. Several heavy tow trucks have been deployed for its removal, which is ongoing.
According to State Police, heavy traffic congestion is expected to persist until the scene is cleared. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
