Two Killed in Danbury Motorcycle Crash Involving Police Officer
DANBURY, CT — Two individuals, including a Bridgeport police officer, were killed in a motorcycle crash on Sugar Hollow Road early Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. when a motorcycle traveling southbound collided with a Jeep Compass, according to authorities. The motorcycle's operator, 38-year-old Cooper Whiteside, and his passenger, 34-year-old Brittany Islami, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Whiteside was identified as a police officer by the Bridgeport Police Department, which expressed its sorrow in a statement. “Our department is heartbroken by the devastating loss of Officer Cooper Whiteside and Brittany Islami,” the statement read.
The driver of the Jeep was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash is currently under investigation.
