HILO, HI — A pedestrian accident on October 22 resulted in the death of 71-year-old Pamela Lovett of Pahoa, authorities said.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Highway 11 near the intersection with Kamana Street. Lovett was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road. Emergency medical personnel responded, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, who remained on-site, was not reported injured. Traffic was diverted for several hours as the area was secured for investigation.
The HILO Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further information may be released as the investigation progresses.
