Dump Truck Collision Claims Life in Kenton County
A 66-year-old man died in a crash involving a dump truck on Taylor Mill Road near Redbud Drive around 9:54 a.m. on Oct. 13, according to Kenton County Police.
Initial investigations revealed a dump truck, operated by a company from Cincinnati, was traveling southbound on Taylor Mill Road when it partially left the right side of the roadway. The driver attempted to correct and re-enter the lane, crossing into oncoming traffic.
The truck struck a pickup driven by Jeffrey M. Smith of Taylor Mill. Fort Wright Firefighters transported Smith to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The dump truck driver, from Hamilton, Ohio, was hospitalized with minor injuries and has since been released. No charges have been filed against him at this time.
The Kenton County Police Department's traffic accident reconstruction unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Officer Treadway at 859-356-3191.
