King City, MO. – Two men were hospitalized after being injured in a three-car accident on Thursday morning near King City.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 9:15 a.m. on Route Z.
A 29-year-old man from Pattonsburg, Missouri, was driving a car westbound when he sideswiped an eastbound semi-truck driven by a 45-year-old man from Savannah, Missouri.
The Pattonsburg man's vehicle drifted across the centerline and collided with another eastbound big rig driven by a 65-year-old man from Amazonia, Missouri.
The impact of the collision sent the second big rig down an embankment where it overturned onto the driver's side.
The Pattonsburg man suffered serious injuries and was flown to Truman Medical Center.
The Amazonia man also suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Savannah man was unhurt.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
