One man is in serious condition following a crash on Interstate 70 in Missouri on Monday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported that a 2026 Subaru Outback was traveling west on I-70 near the 136.6 mile marker at 3:28 p.m.
According to authorities, the Subaru was in the left lane, ahead of a Volkswagen in the right lane, when it failed to negotiate a curve in a construction zone.
The vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and then returned to the roadway before colliding with a concrete barrier.
Debris from the crash reportedly struck the Volkswagen's windshield.
The 78-year-old male driver of the Subaru, from Johnson City, Tennessee, sustained critical injuries and was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Officials confirmed that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The incident is under investigation, and lane closures were reported in the area.
