Wrong-Way Crash on I-270 in Franklin County Kills One, Injures Another

A wrong-way crash on southbound Interstate 270 in Blendon Township at 12:47 a.m. April 23 left one dead and one injured, authorities said.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, a Cruze traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-270 just north of Dempsey Road collided head-on with a southbound A3.

Authorities said both drivers were transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition. The driver was at 1:32 a.m. The drivers' names had not been released as of 12:59 p.m. April 23.

The interstate was closed for several hours while deputies investigated and the vehicles were cleared before lanes reopened, according to the sheriff's office. The investigation is ongoing.
