57-Year-Old Woman Killed in U.S. 50 Incident Near Lee's Summit
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — A 57-year-old woman from Independence was killed when struck by a pickup truck along U.S. 50 on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. near the eastbound lanes of U.S. 50. The woman was part of a litter crew performing roadside maintenance when the accident occurred.
Authorities confirmed that the driver remained at the scene. Emergency responders from the Lee's Summit Fire Department provided medical aid, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of U.S. 50 experienced significant delays due to the investigation and subsequent lane closures. Tow services were called to remove the vehicle involved in the accident.
