Westbound I-80 in Magna area closed due to blown tire and brush fire.

MAGNA, Utah — A blown-out tire on a caused a fire on Interstate 80, fully closing westbound lanes Saturday evening.

Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) reported that the incident occurred around 5 p.m. near milepost 107, within Magna city limits. The tire fire spread into the brush off the right shoulder of the freeway.

Authorities confirmed no injuries resulted from the fire. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises drivers to use State Route 201 as an alternate route while the investigation continues.

UHP expects to reopen the westbound lanes by approximately 7:30 p.m.
