HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A high-stakes rescue unfolded Wednesday after deputies discovered an unconscious driver during a crash response on I-4.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred in the late afternoon when a deputy, checking on those involved in the crash, found a woman unresponsive behind the wheel of her vehicle. Authorities confirmed the woman was not breathing and lacked a pulse.
A second deputy arrived shortly after and assisted in the rescue. The deputies removed the woman from her vehicle and commenced CPR. One deputy utilized a defibrillator as both continued to provide emergency medical care.
Deputies persisted with life-saving measures until Fire Rescue crews took over. The woman was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident is under investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. No additional details regarding the crash or number of vehicles involved have been released.
