Two Dead in Head-On Crash on Route 54 Near Selbyville
SELBYVILLE, DE – Two individuals were killed and a third critically injured in a head-on collision on Route 54 on July 8 at approximately 7:55 a.m., according to Delaware State Police.
A 22-year-old woman from Berlin, Maryland, was driving a Chevrolet Camaro eastbound when she crossed the double-yellow centerline for unknown reasons and collided with a westbound Hyundai Santa Fe. The driver of the Camaro was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The Santa Fe's passenger, a 77-year-old man from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 74-year-old driver from Selbyville sustained critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Route 54 was closed for an extended period as officials conducted an investigation.
