Man Killed in Four- Crash on Coastal Highway Near Milford

A 71-year-old man was killed in a four-car crash on Coastal Highway near Milford on July 11, according to Delaware State Police.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. A 31-year-old man from Frederica sustained critical injuries and was taken to the hospital. Police reported that the Frederica man was driving a Chevy Tahoe northbound when he failed to navigate a curve, entered the median, and collided with the southbound lanes.

The Tahoe struck a Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by the 71-year-old man near Bakerfield Road. The impact separated the engine from the Tahoe.

Two additional vehicles, a Subaru Forester and a Chrysler 200, were involved in the aftermath. The Subaru, driven by a 36-year-old woman from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, struck the rear of the Town and Country and was later with non-life-threatening injuries. The 34-year-old driver of the Chrysler 200 from Dover was uninjured.

Coastal Highway was closed for four hours for cleanup and investigation. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and encourage any witnesses or individuals with information to contact Delaware State Police or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
