One Dead in Semi-Truck and Train Collision in Poweshiek County
POWESHIEK COUNTY, IA – June 3, 2026 – A collision between a semi-truck and a train resulted in one fatality and serious injuries on Highway 21 near Victor.
The Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the incident around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3. According to a news release from Sheriff Matt Maschmann, the crash caused the train to derail.
One occupant of the semi-truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was airlifted by Life Flight with serious injuries. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
Emergency response teams remain on the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Motorists are advised of lane closures on Highway 21 as cleanup efforts continue.
