LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A high-speed crash early Sunday in North Las Vegas resulted in two fatalities and two injuries, according to police.

North Las Vegas Police Department officers responded at approximately 1:05 a.m. to the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Clayton Street, where a two-vehicle collision occurred. Emergency responders found significant damage to both vehicles and multiple injured occupants.

A 38-year-old female passenger was at the scene. The driver, a 53-year-old male, was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Andrea Collins and Rogers Andrus Jr.

Two additional occupants sustained injuries and were also taken to UMC, where their conditions are stable. The Major Collision Investigation Unit is overseeing the investigation.

Preliminary reports indicate a 2016 HR-V was traveling eastbound on Lone Mountain Road at high speed, failing to stop at a red signal and colliding with a northbound 2005 Expedition on Clayton Street. This caused both vehicles to spin off the roadway and strike several fixed objects, including a power pole.

Authorities suspect impairment may have played a role in the incident and secured a warrant for blood samples from the driver.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Nevada at 702-385-5555 or through their website at crimestoppersofnv.com.
