LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A woman succumbed to injuries weeks after a two-vehicle crash in northwest Las Vegas, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred on March 7 at approximately 4:41 p.m. at the intersection of West Lake Mead Boulevard and Del Webb Boulevard. Authorities reported that a 78-year-old man was driving a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class eastbound when he attempted a left turn onto Del Webb Boulevard. A Toyota RAV4, operated by a 17-year-old male driving westbound, collided with the Mercedes-Benz.
The impact redirected the Toyota to the northwest corner of the intersection. Emergency medical personnel transported all occupants to University Medical Center, where the Mercedes-Benz passenger, a 74-year-old woman, died on April 8 from her injuries.
According to police, the collision remains under investigation, and the Mercedes-Benz driver suffered serious injuries. Under federal guidelines, traffic fatalities are classified only if they occur within 30 days of the incident, necessitating the ongoing review of the case.
The Collision Investigation Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is leading the investigation.
