Two people were critically injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night in Montgomery County, according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. when a 2014 Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound on I-70, east of Williamsburg, ran off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle overcorrected, veered off the right side, overturned several times down an embankment, and struck several trees before coming to a stop.
A 29-year-old male driver from Kansas City and a 30-year-old female passenger were both transported to University Hospital by Montgomery County ambulance. Authorities reported that the male driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) is investigating the incident. No further details on lane closures or tows were available at this time.
