Two Drivers Killed, Children Injured in Head-On Crash in Park Rapids
PARK RAPIDS, MN — A head-on collision on Highway 71 near Albert Avenue South resulted in the deaths of both drivers and injuries to two children on Sunday at approximately 8:15 p.m.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a northbound Ford F-150 crossed the center line and collided with a Kia Telluride. The driver of the Kia, a 39-year-old woman, and the 45-year-old male driver of the Ford, both from Park Rapids, succumbed to their injuries.
A 13-year-old girl in the Kia sustained life-threatening injuries, while a 5-year-old boy in the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both children were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies were on the scene to assist. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with authorities suggesting alcohol may have been a factor for the truck driver.
No lane closures or roadblocks were reported following the incident.
