ESKO, MN — A 43-year-old man died early Sunday morning in a crash on southbound Interstate 35, north of the Esko exit, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. under snowy and icy road conditions. Driver Nathan Oleary, a resident of Esko, was found deceased at the scene, having been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Authorities reported that Oleary's 2006 STS lost control, spun out, and entered the right ditch, colliding with a guardrail. The vehicle then overturned multiple times and struck a pier of an overpass bridge before finally coming to rest.

Emergency responders from the Cloquet and Esko fire departments, along with Cloquet Ambulance, Cloquet Police Department, and Carlton County Sheriff's Office, provided assistance at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
