Two Children Killed in Baytown Police Officer-Involved Crash
BAYTOWN, TX — Two children, ages 10 and 8, died following a collision with a Baytown Police Department officer on October 1, 2023.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Main Street. According to authorities, the officer's vehicle struck the children's car, resulting in severe injuries that left both with no brain activity. Emergency medical responders arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and transported the children to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Authorities confirmed that the officer was responding to an emergency call at the time of the accident. The children were traveling in a passenger vehicle that sustained significant damage. Baytown Police reported that both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Main Street was closed for several hours as investigators conducted a thorough examination of the incident. Witnesses reported seeing the police vehicle having its lights activated prior to the collision.
