Drivers in Cole County faced delays on Highway 54 near Quarry Road on Friday afternoon.
The Cole County Sheriff's Department reported a multi-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m.
Emergency responders from the Cole County Fire Protection District and the Jefferson City Police Department were on the scene.
Authorities confirmed several injuries but no fatalities, and medical aid has been rendered to those involved.
Two vehicles required towing, obstructing traffic and causing lane closures in both directions.
The Missouri Department of Transportation's Traveler Information Map indicated slow-moving traffic south of Jefferson City, with delays expected until the scene is cleared.
Witnesses reported frantic efforts by first responders as they worked to manage the situation.
