ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — A collision between two commuter buses at the Pentagon Metro Station south parking lot injured 23 passengers early Friday morning.
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) reported the incident occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. involving an OmniRide bus and a Fairfax Connector transit bus. Officials confirmed that 10 of the injured were Department of War personnel.
Eighteen individuals were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment, while five others received on-scene care and were released. Authorities described the incident as a “low-speed crash.”
In response, PFPA said all bus traffic is being redirected to the Pentagon City station, urging commuters to seek alternative travel arrangements. “The public is advised to avoid the area while first responders manage the situation and an investigation is underway,” officials noted.
The Metro Access Road remains closed as authorities continue to investigate the crash's cause. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has implemented an alternate transportation plan to assist affected commuters.
