Tragic crash claims lives of two juveniles in Hastings

HASTINGS, Neb. — A two-vehicle crash on September 15, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m. claimed the lives of two juvenile passengers and left both drivers injured.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Department, the crash occurred at the uncontrolled intersection of Saddlehorn Road and Riverview Avenue. A pickup truck traveling eastbound, driven by Blake Whitcomb, 33, of Hastings, collided with a northbound farm silage truck operated by Dale Feik, 66, of Harvard.

Both drivers were transported to Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for treatment. Tragically, two juvenile passengers, ages 7 and 10, in the eastbound pickup were at the scene.

Emergency response efforts included assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol, Hastings Rural Fire Department, Glenvil Fire & Rescue, and Hastings Fire & Rescue. An Accident Reconstruction is being conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol.

Authorities said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash; however, the use of restraints by the occupants is currently unknown. Next of kin have been notified.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
