Arkansas Man Sentenced in Bicyclist Crash
An Arkansas man has been sentenced in connection with a crash that killed an 82-year-old bicyclist in Cherry County last year.
Adam Cooper, 36, of White Hall, was sentenced on Friday to 2 years and 7 months in prison for motor vehicle homicide, reckless driving, and attempted failure to stop and render aid.
According to the Cherry County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred on June 29, 2024, on Highway 20 west of Valentine. Authorities reported that Larry Covalciuc, 82, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was found unresponsive on the grass at the scene.
The investigation revealed that Cooper was driving a black Dodge pickup identified as the vehicle involved in the crash. Court records indicate that he was arrested on July 1, 2025, in Hooker County in connection with the fatal incident.
