Man Dies in Lee County Single-Car Crash
LEESBURG, AL – A single-car crash on Lee County Road 158 has resulted in the death of a 19-year-old man. The incident occurred around 10:57 a.m. on January 10, 2025, approximately 13 miles east of Opelika.
According to Alabama State Troopers, Devon Nicholas Bellar-Yates of Salem suffered critical injuries when his vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Authorities reported that he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. Emergency responders transported him to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no further details about lane closures or other vehicles involved have been confirmed.
