NEEDHAM, Mass. — A 14-year-old was hospitalized with significant but non-life-threatening injuries following a crash between an e-bike and a car in Medway on Wednesday.
Authorities reported that the incident has sparked concerns in the community, particularly as Attleboro police announced charges against three young people related to recent e-bike incidents.
Dr. Ari Cohen, Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Mass General Brigham for Children, noted an alarming increase in e-bike injuries. He highlighted the necessity of wearing helmets to mitigate the risk of serious brain injuries.
As warmer weather approaches, families are advised to supervise young riders and ensure that e-bikes are age-appropriate due to their increased speed and weight compared to traditional bicycles.
