Ontario Man Guramritpal Singh Hospitalized after Crash on I-70 in Greenup, IllinoisÂ
Greenup, Illinois – One person was airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a traffic accident in Greenup on Tuesday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The accident on Interstate 70 occurred at milepost 117 at around 4:40 p.m. on March 9.
Guramritpal Singh, 23, of Etobicoke, Ontario, was driving a semi-truck eastbound on I-70 when he slammed into the rear of a stopped semi.
The impact caused a chain-reaction involving three other semis and a pickup, which were also stopped.
Singh sustained serious injuries in the accident and was airlifted to a hospital.
One other semi driver, Charantjit Sandhu, 42, of Grant Ford, Ontario, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance.
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for over one hour for the investigation and cleanup.
Singh was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
