A 22-year-old motorcyclist died on Memorial Day after a collision with a Jeep in Dover, according to city police.
Dover police responded to Route 13 south by Lepore Drive around 8 p.m. following reports of the accident. Officers found Emmanuel Farmer, of Smyrna, with severe injuries.
Farmer was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities stated a Jeep Wrangler was stopped in the left turn lane of Route 13 north, preparing to turn onto Lepore Drive, when it turned in front of Farmer, who was traveling south. Farmer's motorcycle struck the Jeep's passenger side. The Jeep's flashing red arrow was active during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have yet to determine if impairment contributed to the crash, although initial reports suggest Farmer may have been operating his motorcycle at high speeds before the collision.
No charges have been filed at this time.
