A Brandywine Hundred traffic incident on April 18 resulted in one fatality and left another injured, according to the Delaware State Police.
James Matthews, 72, was pronounced dead following a collision with Michelle Palazzolo, 35, who faces multiple charges including vehicular homicide. Authorities reported that Palazzolo sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. as Matthews was executing a left turn from Rocky Run Parkway onto Route 202 (Concord Pike) under a green arrow. Witnesses reported that Palazzolo ran a red light, colliding with the left side of Matthews' vehicle.
In addition to vehicular homicide, Palazzolo was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, running a red light, and operating a vehicle without proper insurance. She remains in custody, per police records.
